BACKGROUND

“Women’s Forum” NGO was established in May 2002. Ever since it’s establishment, the forum has under taken numerous important projects in Yerevan. The headquarter is located in the central of Yerevan with regional offices to be opened in Ashtarak, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Hrazdan and other regions within the country. At the present time the organization has acquired 35 members and is actively recruiting members from other regions The NGO is also one of the 25 members of the National coalition of non-governmental organizations against the corruption.

Our activities for the past several months include:
• The training modules on business woman image formation, business management and psychology of success were developed.
• Surveys were conducted to find out the woman’s problems in life and business.
• “Women’s Forum” organized and took part in the conference-meeting of SABIT program graduates in Yerevan in July 2002
• The organization participated in training seminar “Gender Analysis of the Impact of Public Policy and Budget”.
• Attended the “round table” discussion on the subject of Small and Medium Business Development in Armenia, (by RA Government and ProSME).
• Participation in conference and EXPO exhibition NGO 2002, (by RA Government and USAID).
• Participation in training organized by “Armenia Legislative Strengthening Program”, (USAID/DAI).
• In cooperation with NGO “Azara” participation in the poverty reduction and new job vacancies creation project.
• In August 2002, implementation of the team project “Empowered Women” with the group of students from Columbia University of USA (NY).
• Initiated a comprehensive study and research in related to gender issues in Armenia. A manual will be developed based on the result of the research which will enable women to understand and realize the law, and act and work in the limits of Republic of Armenia legislation. There will be a detailed explanation and interpretation of the legislation in the manual. (The approximate volume of the manual is 200-250 pages).The manual based web-site design and creation is the other part of the project.
• Initiated a team project with ProSME, aimed on strengthening and development of the entrepreneurs’ unions and business associations
• Development of the image of businesswomen, heuristics. The project consists of different courses for business women such as; business formation and development, forms of verbal and non-verbal communication, promotion and self-perfection. During the project implementation and the courses, a guideline was created to develop women’s business and creative potential, and to train the management, business, leadership bases and forms for businesswomen image.

OBJECTIVES
The major objectives of the organization are:
• To study and identify the constrains affecting the women involvement in business and professional activities in the country;
• To advocate policies aimed at improving the conditions that inhibit women participation in business and professional activities;
• To enhance the professional and business development of women in different spheres of activities;
• To support the coalitions of women organizations, increasing the awareness and participation of women in democratic processes and civil society development
